The Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition
The Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition (link), now Festival, is an international music competition for viola players and was established in 1980 to honour the memory of the English viola virtuoso Lionel Tertis.
This triennial event is held at the Erin Arts Centre, Port Erin, Isle of Man. The original hand-drawn on artboard logo was created in 1979 and has remained the competition logo to the present day. With the introduction of a “Festival”, the logo needed to accommodate this change.
Used originally on a wide array of printed and digital media, this has introduced more colour and a change in the typeface. While the original logo has in effect not been changed, it has been carefully and subtly expanded to meet more modern printing and digital technologies. Assets include logo, letterhead, competition brochure in four languages, envelopes, compliments slips, postcard, and postage frank.
